What is negotiation interpreting?

Negotiation interpreting is a type of dialogic interpreting to be used in a business negotiation context; the interpreter conveys information of a sectorial nature between an A-language speaker and a B-language speaker for short stretches of conversation and without note-taking. Specifically, the languages of use alternate between the source and target languages.

What is consecutive interpreting?

In consecutive interpreting the interpreter totally reproduces the speech of a speaker after they have concluded their speech in the source language. During the interpretation phase, the interpreter is the only person who implements communication with the client, without using any simultaneous translation equipment.

What is simultaneous interpreting?

In simultaneous interpreting, the interpreter is in a soundproof booth with headphones and translates while the speaker gives his or her speech.

This interpretation technique simultaneous consists of immediately reproducing an oral text from one language to another, usually at international conferences and conventions.

What is CHUCOTAGE?

Chuchotage (from French chuchoter = to whisper) is the interpreting technique in which an interpreter, standing or sitting next to the person who does not understand the source language, communicates the speaker`s message to the latter by speaking directly into the ear.

What about the bidule?

The bidule is a ‘equipment portable receiver-transmitter similar to that used by tour guides, which allows simultaneous translation without a booth, but it is practicable only for small groups and less formal events, such as workshops and company visits.
